The injury woes have hit the Baltimore Ravens early in the 2023 season.
J.K. Dobbins is "feared" to have come away from the Ravens’ Week 1 home matchup against the Houston Texans with a torn Achilles injury, as noted by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The versatile running back is set to undergo an MRI to confirm the severity of his injury.
Dobbins left the Ravens’ Week 1 opener against the Texans in the third quarter. He limped off the field after hauling in a 5-yard catch on a drive that culminated in Baltimore’s second touchdown score of the contest. The former Ohio State standout wound up needing help from two athletic trainers to get to the locker room.
The Ravens initially ruled Dobbins as questionable to return to the game due to an ankle injury, and they later downgraded him to out.
Expectations were high for Dobbins heading into the 2023 campaign. He is set to become a free agent next year, and while he did note in August that he and his agent have had "conversations" with Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta regarding a contract extension deal, the two sides did not come to terms on such an agreement before the season.
Dobbins has featured in 24 regular season games in four seasons with the Ravens, as injuries have marred his ongoing run in Baltimore.
Update: Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed in his post-game press conference that Dobbins will miss the remainder of the 2023 season with a torn Achilles injury.
