The 49ers are riding high after their crushing Week 1 win over the Steelers and can now look forward to a Week 2 game with a Rams team they have defeated in eight successive regular-season games.

However, there is unlikely to be any hint of complacency in the 49ers' camp after the Rams, who entered the season with few expecting them compete, stunned the Seahawks in an NFC West matchup in Week 1.

The Rams scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to beat Seattle 30-13 on the road, a score made even more surprising by the absence of Cooper Kupp, who was placed on injured reserve last week.

Kupp will be out for at least three further games, meaning the 49ers won't have to face Matthew Stafford's favorite weapon.

But Kyle Shanahan, who was beaten to the punch on a Stafford trade by Sean McVay and the Rams in 2021, will still be acutely aware of the danger posted by the Los Angeles quarterback after he diced up the Seattle defense even with Kupp on the shelf.

Stafford racked up 334 yards passing with former second-round pick Tutu Atwell and rookie Puka Nacua each going for 119 yards receiving.

San Francisco's defense, which utterly dominated the line of scrimmage in the win over Pittsburgh and was excellent in coverage, is likely to be far less accommodating than the Seahawks were.

Still, one of the most eyebrow-raising results of Week 1 will serve as a timely reminder to the Niners that they can ill-afford to take the Rams lightly as they look to turn a very good start into a great one.
