The Seahawks endured a nightmare start to their 2023 season as they were blown out at home by the Rams, with that loss compounded by injuries to both of their starting tackles.
Seattle saw left tackle Charles Cross leave the game with a toe injury while right tackle Abraham Lucas aggravated an old knee issue.
Cross, a first-round pick in 2022, is suffering from turf toe, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Head coach Pete Carroll said both he and Lucas are day to day ahead of the Week 2 trip to Detroit to face the Lions, and the Seahawks may have to turn to an ultra-experienced veteran to fill the void.
A nine-time Pro Bowler and member of the 2010s All-Decade Team, Peters undoubtedly has the pedigree to fill in on a short-term basis.
However, at 41, there should be some doubt whether he can produce the level of play the Seahawks would require.
Peters' only start for the Cowboys last season saw him give up three pressures in Week 18. Prior to that, he conceded six sacks and five quarterback hits across 15 games with the Bears in 2021.
Well past his peak at this point his career, Peters would at least be useful veteran insurance for the Seahawks. However, he would represent insurance Seattle would rather not use as they look for both Cross and Lucas to make the leap this season.
Seahawks implode in second half to lose opener
That was messy.
