A lot has been made about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott since his interception-plagued season in 2022. Some were on him, while plenty were just bad circumstances.
Nonetheless, Prescott has taken care of the football in an impressive manner for the majority of his career. When you factor in that the Cowboys upgraded its receivers corps by trading for Brandin Cooks, it makes sense to believe that Prescott will be even better when the regular season kicks off next month.
That already looks to be the case, in fact. Prescott performed strongly out in Oxnard, California during training camp. He showcased impressive arm talent and complete command of the offense, generating lots of excitement for the season to begin.
Prescott demonstrated poise and leadership during the team's time out on the West Coast. Sure, a few interceptions made some headlines, but that comes with the territory while playing quarterback for America's Team.
For the most part, Prescott was on the money. ESPN insider Todd Archer tallied Prescott's stats as, unofficially, 141 of 216 with an estimated 25 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 7-on-7 and team drills.
Meaning, Prescott looks ready for regular season action, starting with week one against NFC East rival New York Giants, a team that he has a long track record of succeeding against.
But the more important story is that Prescott has protected the football against an elite defense. Even if it's practice, Prescott has taken chances he likely wouldn't take in games and still has a relatively low interception count.
The Dallas Cowboys will need its quarterback to be at his best when the season kicks off in order to finally get over the postseason hump. Even without the preseason, Dak Prescott looks to be ready.
