All of the latest news on Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones is not of the good variety.

First, Steve Spagnuolo told reporters that he wouldn't expect Jones to play a full load of snaps right away after missing all of training camp. Shortly after, Jones shared another one of his now-infamous cryptic social media posts.

Now, Jones is telling fans that he's willing to extend his holdout well into the 2023 NFL season.

On the app formerly known as Twitter, Jones responded to a message from a fan asking (rather rudely) about his holdout and when he was going to show up.

His response: Week 8.

When prompted about the amount of money he would surrender by not showing up and playing until Week 8, Jones said that he could afford it.

Should Jones follow through on this, he'd miss the following games:

Week 1: Lions
Week 2: Jaguars
Week 3: Bears
Week 4: Jets
Week 5: Vikings
Week 6: Broncos
Week 7: Chargers

That's quite a few important games. A Week 8 return would put Jones back for the second Broncos game.

Given Jones' antics on social media throughout this entire process, it's difficult to tell if he is being serious or not.

It's hard to imagine what a seven-week holdout would accomplish for Jones as far as getting a long-term contract done in Kansas City. However, we have to remember that Jones is close with Le'Veon Bell, who has one of the most notable in-season holdouts in NFL history. That didn't go well for Bell, but perhaps Jones and his agents have a different goal in mind. What if this is just a tactic to bring the Chiefs back to the table again with the season around the corner?

It's hard to feel too confident in negotiations given the fact that Jones is putting this all out there, but the fact that there has been silence from his camp and Brett Veach should give fans at least a glimmer of hope that something might get done.
