Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt heard all through the draft process that his elite speed would be stymied by top NFL cornerbacks.
On Saturday, Hyatt, a third round pick by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, showed everyone that there should be zero concerns about his speed translating to the NFL.
During the Giants' game against the New York Jets on Saturday, Hyatt found himself lined up against cornerback Sauce Gardner, a second year player that's already regarded as one of the best defensive backs in the NFL.
And Hyatt zipped right past him.
The pass was incomplete, but Hyatt did his job against one of the best cornerbacks on the planet. I'd say that's enough to quiet any concerns about Hyatt's speed.
To be fair to Gardner, he had good coverage against Hyatt later in the game.
That's just a great battle between two great players.
Hyatt is going to lose some of those battles, but he’s going to win his fair share, too.
