Former 2020 undrafted free agent CB Essang Bassey has been on fire this preseason, recording interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals in preseason Week 1 and the San Francisco 49ers in preseason Week 2. He's up to his old tricks again, completing a hat trick in preseason Week 3 with an extremely impressive interception.
If you didn't know the Broncos were playing defense, you would have assumed that Bassey was a receiver himself.
Bassey didn't take the interception very far, returning it to where he caught it for no gain.
The fourth-year cornerback is the second nickel corner on the Broncos depth chart behind K'Wuan Williams. Frankly, if he doesn't make the 53-man roster, his preseason ball production has already done him enough to earn a spot with one of the other 31 NFL teams. The 25-year-old is tied with Cleveland Browns S Ronnie Hickman Jr. for the preseason lead with three interceptions across three games.
He's put in the work worthy of a roster spot, but it's ultimately up to George Paton to decide if that will be in Denver or elsewhere.

The Denver Broncos are looking to change their identity coming into the next season. With UDFAs, rookies, and newly-signed players, things are about to get interesting.
