Tyree Wilson is a beast, as we saw in college and the 13 snaps we saw on Saturday. We have seen why the Las Vegas Raiders chose to take him with their first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Wilson will be a guy the Raiders will build around in the future. He and Maxx Crosby will be a fearful duo for years to come. Once Wilson was drafted, we kind of thought that was the case. Now, we pretty much know it.
It only took until preseason Week 3 to see what Wilson will bring. However, according to the man himself, that was the perfect time to show what he has.
"It felt good; I just had to trust the process," Wilson said in his first NFL game in a loss to the Cowboys. "I was eager to get back on the field right away, but I trusted the trainers and trusted the coaches and the personnel department to have the right plan to get me back on the field at the right time. And I feel like coming back to Texas was the right time to get on the field.
"I feel great. Ready to continue to build, keep stacking days," continued Wilson. "Every game is important, but to come back to the state of Texas – it was great."
Wilson played just 13 snaps. In those snaps, he flashed but also showed some things he definitely has to work on. You may have seen the somewhat viral play by now, where Wilson threw an offensive tackle to the ground. That is what the Raiders are going to get.
However, if you watch the play too closely, you will see that Wilson didn't finish it out. He was right next to the Cowboys' quarterback but didn't get the sack, let alone a hand on Grier. Wilson also had a play where he was blocked by a rookie tight end, another thing that just cannot happen.
Luckily, it was just his first-ever game. He has room to grow still. And, he got to show what he has in his home state.
