NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans started roster cuts this week by waiving six players on Sunday afternoon. Among them was kicker Michael Badgley, whose (second) stint on the roster lasted less than a week.

As of Monday evening, Tennessee had yet to add another player at that position to the roster.

Badgely was waived less than two days after the Titans preseason finale. In a win over the visiting New England Patriots, he made three of his four field goal attempts and both extra points on Tennessee's two touchdowns. Reporters, including myself were a bit taken aback by how nonchalant Badgely was in the postgame locker room about competing for a job that remains wide open.

"Well, you've got to make them," coach Mike Vrabel said on Friday night. "But I thought he bounced back. We'll take a look at it and work through his performance and see what that looked like. And then, go from there just like we will everybody else. Disappointed, and I know he would have liked to have that one back. It's unfortunate."

"Unfortunate" is definitely how one would describe this Titans kicking situation.

13 different players have been on this roster at that position since Vrabel took over in 2018. None of them have lasted, despite several going on to have success with other NFL teams. Per Nick Suss of the Tennessean, Tennessee's 74 made field goals are 10 fewer than the franchise with the next fewest.

The Titans 102 field goal attempts are the lowest in the league in that same span. 72.5 percent of their field goals made is worst in the NFL. Only two other franchises are below 80 percent during that time.

It is less about Badgley than it is about a Tennessee kicking calamity.
