FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots hosted four free agents for a visit on Wednesday, and one was able to make quite the impression. And he made sure to take advantage of the opportunity he was given.
Going into the workout, Joe Giles-Harris' mindset was clear.
"Just work hard and hopefully something good will happen," Giles-Harris said. "They don't want anybody who's not going to work hard and things like that."
The Patriots signed Giles-Harris following his workout, with the former Buffalo Bills linebacker remaining in the AFC East.
"It's a great feeling. I was at home, I wasn't employed. So happy to have an opportunity here and it's a great organization," Giles-Harris. "And I've known a couple of people to come through here, so I'm just happy to be here."
Giles-Harris last played with the Bills, appearing in one game last season and two in 2021.
He began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, signing as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and jumped between the active roster and the practice squad during his tenure. During his two seasons with the Jaguars, he appeared in 14 games with 23 tackles and one sack.
And now he has joined an organization with a long history of winning, along with being able to learn from one of the best defensive minds in the game.
"It's just a bought in organization. Everybody's bought in. Everybody wants to win," Giles-Harris. "(Bill Belichick's) got six Super Bowl rings and it speaks for itself. And just excited to get ready and get the opportunity to do it."
