The Kansas City Chiefs had preseason Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints in hand, but in the final minute of the game, they gave it all away.

The Chiefs had the ball at their own 31-yard line with a minute and 13 seconds remaining. They ran the ball on back-to-back occasions, forcing New Orleans to spend their final timeouts. On third-and-8 with a chance to ice the game, the team inexplicably ran a screen pass. Fourth-string QB Chris Oladokun was intercepted on the play.

"You just can't finish with a mistake," Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters after the game. "I mean, that's a terrible way to end the thing."

The reaction from the sideline during the game really said it all. KSHB-TV anchor and reporter Harold R. Kuntz captured the broadcast view of WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, QB Patrick Mahomes, and LB Drue Tranquill at the exact moment the interception was thrown.

"Oh no, our preseason Week 1 win, it's broken."

"Hear no turnover, see no turnover, speak no turnover."

"That's the last time I bet on preseason football."

Losing a game that you had well in hand to a mistake is never easy, but at least Kansas City got this one out of the way during the preseason when the games don't count. The work will continue for Oladokun and the fourth-string offense, as well as the rest of the team.
