Cleveland Browns just got some good news to start the week ahead of joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Returning from a groin injury in time for the practices is CB Greg Newsome II.
Getting back Newsome to begin this week is great timing with what the Browns want to accomplish against the Eagles.
Newsome will join Denzel Ward and Martin Emerson Jr. in trying to win battles against Philadelphia wide receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Having Newsome back with time still left in the preseason is huge for what is to come.
In week 1, Cleveland will take on the best wide receiver duo the NFL has to offer in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns will need to be fully healthy to start the season with that tough matchup.
Newsome is yet to play in the preseason and likely won’t until the final exhibition against the Kansas City Chiefs perhaps. But getting the third-year player back now is a step in the right direction.
3 matchups to watch in Browns-Eagles joint practices
