The Kansas City Chiefs received some unexpected news when veteran wide receiver John Ross decided to retire from football on Wednesday.

Ross, a former top-10 draft pick, still holds the record for the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He set the record back in 2017 and the Cincinnati Bengals eventually selected him at No. 9.

Unfortunately, his inability to stay healthy hindered him from having a good career. He also never developed any skills outside of his speed, which added to his struggles.

Regardless, he accomplished something that thousands of players never accomplish – he has the ability to say he was a top-10 NFL draft pick at one point. That in itself is something to be very proud of and hopefully he finds plenty of success during his post-football career.
