The Kansas City Chiefs have a guy making heads turn at camp and being considered a riser. That is what training camp is about.

We know what the starters will do, for the most part. The guys like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce will do their thing regardless. However, training camp is just as much for the bubble roster guys as it is for the starters trying to get back in shape.

The Chiefs have a way of finding hidden talent, which usually starts in training camp. We have seen guys like Justyn Ross, who was an undrafted free-agent rookie last year, make the Chief roster purely based on what the Chiefs saw before camp. Then, what he has done so far has only helped. There have been a few other of similar examples.

Tight end Matt Bushman is a guy who is turning heads and could make the roster. He was on the team last year but had an injury that kept him on the practice squad.

In a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, Bushman tallied 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns but eventually had to leave due to a fractured clavicle.

Now, he is picking up right where he left off.

"The guy doesn't drop the ball," offensive coordinator Matt Nagy told reporters. "He's always in the right spot at the right time."

From what we know about the Chiefs roster, as we get closer and closer to the day they have to cut down from 90 to 53, they may need an extra tight end, as they don't have a fullback this year, and Noah Gray will be taking on some of those responsibilities. They could also spend that extra roster spot on a wide receiver, one of their deepest position groups.

He could have a roster spot if Bushman continues to have a good training camp. But here's the deal, the tight end room is also extremely deep, with Kelce, Gray, Jody Fortson, and Blake Bell.

Bushman must outplay one of those guys to get that last spot.
