The Dallas Cowboys made the tough, but expected, move earlier this offseason when they parted ways with running back Ezekiel Elliott. It ended an era, as Elliott blossomed into one of the best in the league during his prime.

Dallas is moving forward with Tony Pollard, for at least one season. Pollard will play the 2023 season on the franchise tag as his long-term future remains up in the air. As for Elliott, things have mostly been quiet in terms of finding a new home.

However, it was reported on Saturday that the former Cowboys All-Pro back is taking his first visit with an NFL team since being cut. He is checking out Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

The Patriots are looking for ways to bolster the offense and surround quarterback Mac Jones with weapons. Adding Elliott to a backfield that already features Rhamondre Stevenson would give New England a potential dangerous attack.

Often used as a short-yardage pack next to the electric Pollard, Elliott proved his value to the Cowboys. His 12 rushing touchdowns during the 2022 season was as many as what the entire Patriots team recorded.

It has yet to be reported on whether or not Elliott is set to sign with the Patriots. With that said, it's pretty telling that the organization is bringing him for a visit during the early stages of training camp.

Elliott wearing a uniform other than the Dallas Cowboys would certainly take some time to get used to. That could be on the verge of becoming a reality as Elliott's market begins to heat up.
