Sony Michel has hung up his cleats.

The Patriots 2018 first-round pick has decided to retire after five seasons in the league, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters

This came after Michel signed with the Los Angeles Rams for a second stint in June. However, he will not be returning to the field.

Michel finishes his career with 779 carries for 3,243 rushing yards, 439 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns.

And the two Super Bowl championships aren't too bad either. Michel was a key part in New England's Super Bowl LII victory, with Michel scoring the game's only touchdown to lead the Patriots to a 13-3 win over the Rams.

The Patriots then traded Michel to the Rams in August 2021 in exchange for a fifth and sixth round pick, which worked out for the running back. In his single season in Los Angeles, he won a Super Bowl after the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

He then started the 2022 season with the Miami Dolphins, but was released by the end of August. He then joined the Los Angeles Chargers two days later, playing in 10 games with 36 carries for 106 yards before being released on December 31, 2022.

Michel did not have the long career that he might have hoped, but his contributions in the Patriots Super Bowl victory is one that will cement him in New England history.
