The Kansas City Chiefs seem to have suffered a significant blow to their wide receiver depth during the latest training camp practice at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.
After posting a standout performance as the team's leading receiver in preseason Week 1, undrafted WR Nikko Remigio suffered an apparent injury during practice on Tuesday. After making an impressive catch during one-on-one drills, Remigio was down on one knee tending to what appeared to be an upper-body injury.
Our friends at All Chief'd Up! caught the aftermath of the play. Remigio was quickly attended to by the training staff and helped to the blue medical tent on the sidelines.
After working with both the training staff and medical staff, Remigio took a ride up to the locker room in the front seat of the cart.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid confirmed after practice that Remigio suffered a shoulder dislocation during practice.
"He had a nice game and did some really good things special teams-wise," Reid said. "We'll just see how this thing goes. The shoulder is back in and all of that. We'll just see how it goes."
Remigio caught 4-of-6 passes for 71 yards in the preseason Week 1 loss to the Saints on Sunday. His performance was so impressive that it left many fans doing roster-related acrobatics to try and figure out how Brett Veach could keep him on the 53-man roster.
For now, we'll just see how things progress and whether he can get back on the field this preseason.
