Every training camp there are guys that break out that you haven’t heard of before and the Cleveland Browns may have one of those.

Additionally, there is a group of players that have flat-out raised their stock this training camp with Cleveland.

These players are ultimately going to make it really hard for the team to waive them if they’re at an end of the roster battle.

WR Austin Watkins Jr.

Simply put, Watkins has had the biggest camp of any player that has raised their stock. Coming into training camp, no one really knew the name unless you evaluate a ton of NFL Draft prospects. After going surprisingly undrafted out of UAB in 2021, Watkins may be on the verge of breaking into the NFL. Through two preseason games, Watkins has caught just about anything thrown his way and led the team in receiving both games. Making the roster will be tough but Cleveland may want to keep this one around.

QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson

There were no real expectations for the rookie quarterback this training camp, as the Browns hoped to eventually groom DTR into being the long-term backup to Deshaun Watson. On the field through two games, Thompson-Robinson has excelled even if he hasn’t faced the best competition. Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles is another chance for him to keep up the good play.

RT Dawand Jones

In two preseason games and about 80 pass-blocking snaps, Dawand Jones has given up just one pressure, according to Pro Football Focus. Out at right tackle, Jones looks like he could be a future starter for the Browns. Cleveland may have found a gem in the later rounds of the draft.

WR Elijah Moore

Through training camp, there may not be a position player who has touched the ball more than Moore. After coming over from the New York Jets, the third-year player might be in for a breakout. Moore has been open all camp and he’s even won tough matchups against the Browns top cornerback Denzel Ward. If Moore can be a big weapon for this offense it elevates their ceiling.

LB Tony Fields II

Last season, Fields got his chance with the defense for the first time as a pro. He made the most of it and was a solid player. Again this training camp, he’s shown to be just that, a solid player. Fields has seven tackles combined in the two preseason games and has shown a nice ability to work sideline to sideline.

DT Maurice Hurst

There are depth spots open at the defensive tackle position and it feels like Hurst is bound to get one of them. After struggling to stay healthy pretty much since 2020, Hurst is fully healthy and has shown that this training camp. Most notably, the former Michigan Wolverine recorded his first sack against the Washington Commanders last week. As of right now, Hurst appears to be the fourth defensive tackle.
