The Dallas Cowboys took a while, but they finally got Zack Martin's contract situation taken care of on Monday.
Per Todd Archer of ESPN, the details of Martin's deal have surfaced.
Martin got a two-year deal worth $36.85 million with a $5.8 million signing bonus and it breaks down as laid out below.
- 2023 base salary: $1.25 million
- 2024 base salary: $18 million
- 2023 cap hit: $11.75 million (up $750k after March restructure)
- 2024 cap hit: $28.5 million (another restructure likely next year)
The eight-time All-Pro had $11.8 million of his original base salary for this season converted into a signing bonus. The Cowboys added a voidable year in 2027 to help the team when it comes to the salary cap. Previously, the team had just two voidable years. Adding a third one will allow the front office to manipulate the cap hit more efficiently now and in the future.
Martin racked up $850k in fines during his holdout so he'll make $36 million guaranteed over the next two seasons.
