The Detroit Lions had a rough Wednesday that saw them lose both Amon-Ra St Brown and Jameson Williams. While St. Brown is expected to be back sometime next week, Williams is more than likely going to miss the rest of the preseason.
Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell was asked on Thursday if the Lions might be looking into adding some receiver depth for the Lions and he had this to say.
"Yeah we're kind of in that a little bit. We potentially may need to add somebody after today. We're looking into that. Brad and I have talked about that."
I wouldn't get your hopes up on the Lions making some sort of trade that would bring in a superstar receiver or anything like that. Instead I would look to the free agency world and see what's out there. Here's four guys I think the Lions could look into.
Jeff Smith

You might remember Jeff Smith from last season when the Lions played the Jets. He had four catches for 77 yards in that game. Including this one here.
Smith is not going to be a player that can come in and make a huge difference for the Lions. We're talking abotu depth here, but he's a guy that can come out and give you a big play every now and again. A good comp for him would be Tom Kennedy. Who would likely be here had he not injured his arm. Smith is a super fast option with 4.34 speed. It's actually a little strange that he's not at a camp right now.
Rashard Higgins

Higgins is another guy that could be looked at. Higgins had a decent run with the Cleveland Browns as one of their depth guys. The Browns didn’t bring him back after six seasons and he spent the 2022 season with the Panthers. He would only play in three games there.
Higgins is a little older at 28, but there's no harm is bringing him in to see what he has left in him. The Browns clearly saw enough in him to keep him in Cleveland for six years and utilize him the whole time.
Anthony Miller

Lions fans know Anthony Miller. He was with the Bears for three seasons and was a big part of their receiving corps. He had 52 catches for 656 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears in 2019. He had a decent 2020 season too. Things have kind of gone down hill since then.
Miller had a rough 2021 season that saw him get released by the Texans. He wound up on the Steelers and would be brought back in 2022 before suffering a season ending injury and missing the entire 2022 season. The Steelers still signed him to a new one year deal back in January, but wound up releasing him in June.
You're taking a chance here, but again, this is about depth. If Miller can get back to being at least half of the player he was in Chicago, then you're looking a good helping hand. He's still in his 20's, why not give him a shot.
Kenny Golladay

I can’t believe this is happening right now. Look, the cupboard is pretty bare for receivers in free agency right now. Golladay had a really bad run in New York. Some say that he might be the worst free agent signing off all time. I can’t dispute that.
What I will say is it's weird that this guy hasn't, at the very least, been invited to tryout for anyone. It was bad in New York, but I don't know if it was bad enough to the point where the guy can't get the chance to fail or succeed at a training camp.
This should be low on the Lions list, but if they're open to it, I say why not give the guy a shot? If it doesn't work out, everyone can just walk away. This one is mostly for me because I just really want to see if he has anything left.
