The Bills Mafia always has a special place in their hearts for former players. A recent update regarding a former Buffalo Bills WR has quickly taken the internet by storm. Unfortunately, things aren't looking good.
Marquise Goodwin is going to miss the start of training camp for the Cleveland Browns. James Palmer reported Goodwin had been experiencing discomfort in his legs and slight shortness of breath during organized team activities in the spring, and a check-up revealed the blood clots in his legs and lungs.
Goodwin was taken by the Buffalo Bills with the 78th pick of the 2013 draft. The speedy wide receiver played college football for Texas in which he saw 116 receptions for 1296 yards and six touchdowns. To add to his impressive college football stats, Goodwin was also a two-time NCAA champion in the long jump and a four-time All-American in track and field.
Goodwin spent his first four seasons in Buffalo, amassing 39 games in which he started 10. Goodwin saw 49 targets for 780 yards and six touchdowns. Adding to his impressive resume, he won the 2011 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field long jump title and the 2012 Outdoor Championship/Olympic Trials. Goodwin competed in the 2012 Olympics and managed to place 10th in the final.
Unfortunately, during his time in Buffalo, bad quarterback play was a factor in why he wasn't able to succeed as much as fans would hope. On top of that, after having a successful rookie season, Goodwin struggled with injuries that saw him only play in 12 games over the next two seasons. Goodwin had the likes of EJ Manuel, Thaddeus Lewis, Jeff Tuel, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassel, Cardale Jones, and Tyrod Taylor throwing to him.
While not all the above quarterbacks were bad, they definitely were no Josh Allen. Goodwin wound up leaving Buffalo and spent the next 3 seasons in San Francisco before jumping around to Chicago, Seattle, and now Cleveland.
We're hoping for a speedy recovery for the speedy receiver.
