The Tennessee Titans have finally unveiled their throwback Oilers uniforms for the 2023 NFL season and they're as slick as you imagined them.

As expected, the look has generated plenty of controversy as some still argue that the Houston Texans should be the rightful team to wear the Oilers' attire.

I struggle to see how that even makes sense. The Titans were once the Oilers. It's the same franchise as it was when it was founded in 1959, only with a different name and city. When they moved to Nashville, so did the players and their history. They even were the Tennessee Oilers for two seasons, for crying out loud. It's really not that hard to comprehend.

Anyways, lost in the hype of a goosebump-inducing video was one detail about the throwback uniforms: They will push one of the Titans' looks out of the uniform rotation.

Per Jim Wyatt from TennesseeTitans.com, "The light blue Oilers throwbacks will replace the light blue "Titans" jerseys as the third jersey, joining the navy and the white uniforms."

While unsurprising, it's still important to keep in mind NFL teams can't imitate the University of Oregon's awe-inspiring wardrobe.

Surely, Titans fans won't mind the tradeoff. The Oilers throwbacks look very clean and mean much more as they tie to franchise history. The only reason why they didn't make sense before was because of the NFL's odd rule to only allow one helmet per team.

Having dropped that rule in 2022, it was only a matter of time for the Titans to start rocking the new look.
