Everything needs to be different for the Denver Broncos this season.
While it may seem like it's just a simple helmet announcement, it's another sign of an offseason centered around change.
Sean Payton was brought in by George Paton to change the franchise and turn things around. Getting Russell Wilson back where he needs to be, cleaning up the mess that was last season, and putting the team in a place where they can compete.
The Denver Broncos revealed their brand new alternate helmets that they will be using periodically this season. The Twitter caption simply read "Kept these on ice. Introducing our new #Snowcapped Alt Helmet."
While it may not be the jersey and helmet combination change that fans were hoping for, the white helmets with the retro "D" is a clean look and will hopefully provide a spark not only inside the locker room but for fans as well.
The Broncos highlighted some of the finer items on the helmet that set it apart and is a call back to the history of the organization. The vertical stripe pays tribute to the classic look worn in the 1960s. The snowcapped alternate helmet will only be worn with their color rush, all-orange uniforms. The white shell and facemask, as the organization pointed out, are a nod to the snowcapped mountain ranges. And the team announced they made history as the all-white helmet shell is the first-ever in team history.
Surprisingly, the helmet announced, initially, was a success. Combing through the responses to the helmet most of the internet seemed to be in agreement that the helmet was clean and that the organization did a better job than they had originally thought when it was teased there would be a helmet announcement.
Mike Klis, from 9News, discussed the similarities between the newly-announced helmets and the previous hardware the team had used. "Basically same Broncos logo used from 1968-'96. Added orange and blue vertical stripes. Looks sharp."
Here's hoping a simple adjustment to the helmets is part of the offseason of change, that helps set the team up for success and gets them ready for the upcoming season.
Sean Payton already making one major change for Broncos QB Russell Wilson
There was one major takeaway from today's introductory press conference for new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Change. Change is own the horizon inside the building for the Broncos. Their players will feel it, and fans will probably be happy to hear all of this after last season's debacle with Nathaniel Hackett. One of […]
