The brother of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez – Dennis Hernandez – was arrested after a woman reported to the police that she was worried he was planning a school shooting.
Dennis Hernandez was allegedly "displaying very erratic behavior" and the woman was worried he might harm someone.
He was arrested on July 18 and his charges include threatening, breach of peace and failure to appear in court. He is being held on a $250,000 bond and is due back in court on Aug. 1.
The arrest warrant alleged that Dennis Hernandez went to Brown University and UConn to "map the schools out," with the belief that he was planning school shootings.
Dennis Hernandez was due in court on July 7 after being charged with throwing a brick with a note attached at ESPN's headquarters in Bristol, Conn in March. However, he did not appear in court, with one woman telling the police that she was dating Dennis Hernandez at the time and he borrowed her car, saying he was attending court.
Instead, Dennis Hernandez went to UConn and Brown, with both university police stations being notified to look out for the car.
The police located Dennis Hernandez, who left the residence shouting for the police to shoot him. He was ultimately tasered and taken into custody.
Dennis Hernandez formerly played football at UConn and served as quarterbacks coach for one season at Brown. The arrest warrant shows text messages he sent one of the woman, saying, "UConn program is going to pay unless I have a package deal and I get my estate and everything single thing I have worked for. The coaches and university officials want to be selfish and selective about s—, well I am too. Very. They are going to get surprised. Love you, I would recommend remaining away from there because when I go I'm taking down everything And don't give a f— who gets caught in the cross fire. I've died for wear now and now it's other peoples turn. I'm prepared to give my life So if I don't get to see you on the outside know I love you always Not all shootings are bad I'm realizing. Some are necessary for change to happen."
Dennis Hernandez is the older brother of former Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, who was convicted in 2015 of murdering Odin Lloyd and was serving a life sentence when he committed suicide in prison in 2017.
