The Houston Texans have removed one member from a crowded wide receiver room.

Unlike the 2022 team, this 2023 roster has plenty of talent at the WR position. This position will be home to some tightly-contested battles this summer.

Amari Rodgers, who was battling for one of the final roster spots, requested and received his release on Sunday. Rodgers didn't spend much time on the market before latching on with a Texans' rival.

It's interesting that Rodgers apparently requested his release. Perhaps the former Clemson Tiger felt better about his chances of making the Colts roster than he did the Texans.

Rodgers has now been cut by two teams in the past year. In November 2022, the Packers gave up on Rodgers after he fumbled seven punt returns.

After being claimed by Houston, Rodgers was only tasked with being a receiver, not returning any kicks or punts as a Texan. As a receiver, Rodgers finished his Texans' tenure with 12 catches for 154 yards and one TD.

The Texans have Robert Woods, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Noah Brown, and John Metchie III as roster locks at the WR position. With Rodgers gone, the final spot will likely come down to either rookie Xavier Hutchinson, Jalen Camp, or Steven Sims.
