It was only a matter of time before the New Orleans Saints had to deal with this.

Running back Alvin Kamara was indicted back in February on charges of conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm stemming from an incident in February 2022 in Las Vegas where a man was assaulted outside of a nightclub.

Kamara agreed to a plea deal earlier this month that eliminated the felony charge, but he was still subject to a suspension from the NFL if they felt he violated their personal conduct policy. Well, that's exactly what happened on Friday as Kamara was suspended for the first three games of the 2023 season.

The Saints host the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 and hit the road to play the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers in the first three games of the season. Kamara will be eligible to return in Week 4 when the Saints play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kamara has been one of the most well-rounded runners since he came into the NFL with six consecutive seasons of over 1300 all-purpose yards. This is a big loss for the Saints, but they prepared for it superbly.

It started back in March when the Saints signed Jamaal Williams to a three-year deal. Williams led the league with 17 rushing touchdowns last season as a member of the Detroit Lions his physical style complements Kamara well.

New Orleans would look to the draft to add more reassurance and got it in the form of Kendre Miller, one of their pre-draft visitors. Miller's ability to navigate through tight spaces while keeping his speed and power has the potential to be an asset for New Orleans.

Is better to be proactive than reactive when it comes to certain things, and the Saitns doing the former was very smart when it came to Kamara's situation.
