The Jaguars' week two matchup vs. the Chiefs just got a whole lot easier.
Ian Rapoport broke the news that Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu will be suspended for the first six regular season games for violating the League's personal conduct policy.
The suspension follows Omenihu's arrest this past January for domestic violence after he reportedly shoved his girlfriend to the ground.
Omenihu can still take part in his team's practices and preseason games, but he'll be out for the first six weeks that actually count. One of those weeks will be week two when the Chiefs travel to Duval County to play the Jags.
The Chiefs signed Omenihu to a two-year $20 million deal in March. Omenihu played in 17 games for the 49ers last season and tallied 20 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. This is another crushing blow to the Chiefs' defensive front, as veteran defensive tackle Chris Jones is currently holding out in hopes of a new contract.
If the Chiefs are without both Chris Jones and Charles Omenihu, Trevor Lawrence can surely rest a little bit easier on the nights leading up to the Jaguars' week two matchup with the Chiefs.
The Jags will certainly be looking to exploit the Chiefs' weak defensive front come September 17th.
