FOXBORO, Mass. — Gillette Stadium has officially made history.

On Friday, before the New England Patriots hold their in-stadium practice, the new video board was unveiled.

"The video board behind me is the largest outdoor video board at a sports venue in the country," The Kraft Group's Chief Operating Officer Jim Nolan said before the board was activated. "It's curved radius design measures 370 feet by 60 feet. It totals 22,000 square feet, almost half an acre. It's over five times the size of the video board it replaced."

This is just one of many changes Gillette Stadium has made this offseason.

There will also be the Bud Light Celebration Beer Hall, which will allow fans to cheer the players on as they emerge from the tunnel. The Enel Plaze and grand staircase have been expanded, along with changes to the concourse. Lastly, there will be a new "Row of Honor," for military members who are honored at the events.

"We started this project a year and a half ago, and it features the most widespread improvements and renovations made since opening the stadium in 2002. We're excited for the work to be completed when we welcome Patriot fans back to the Stadium Sept. 10 for the regular season opener," Nolan said. "Fans will enjoy the reimagined experience from the moment they arrive."

And just for additional context, the video provided a reference on how large the video board actually is. (Hint: how many Devin McCourty's can fit?)

"For Gillette Stadium, this video board will give us the opportunity to take events to the next level," Nolan said. "When fully functional, this board will feature enhanced statistics, game footage that will appear two times larger than the original board and fun new fan engagement features."
