The Bears have improved the roster tremendously after an abysmal 2022 season.

When talent is added to the roster, some veterans could find themselves out of a job.

Today, I wanted to take a look at three veterans on the roster who could be released before Week 1. My decisions will be based on summer perfomances and the latest buzz.

Rasheem Green, DE

The Bears made waves by signing edge-rusher Yannick Ngakoue. Ngakoue provides a valuable veteran presence who’s capable of collecting a double-digit amount of sacks.

With the addition of Ngakoue, somebody is getting left out. Green could be a casualty after signing just a one-year deal. While initially seen as a quality depth addition, Green has failed to stand out at camp and the team may prefer to keep younger options.

Kindle Vildor, CB

Vildor is a veteran corner who struggled mightily in 2022. The corner was targeted 39 times and allowed 26 receptions. Add in that rookies Terell Smith and Tyrique Stevenson have looked fantastic this summer, and the writing is on the wall for Vildor.

While not impossible for the team to keep Vildor as an experienced depth option, I have a feeling that the team will prefer younger options. Stevenson, Smith, Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Jaylon Jones are all likely better options than Vildor.

Equanimeous St. Brown, WR

St. Brown is a solid receiver, and he has familiarity with OC Luke Getsy. However, the Bears have a much deeper receiver room than they did a year ago. Darnell Mooney, DJ Moore, Chase Claypool, and rookie Tyler Scott are all locks.

Assuming the team keeps six receivers, that means the final two spots will be an absolute battle. Velus Jones Jr. has looked impressive this summer and is more versatile than St. Brown. Surprisingly, Nsimba Webster has also been very impressive and may have a shot at cracking the roster. Dante Pettis has been injured, but the veteran is a solid red-zone threat when healthy.

All-in-all, St. Brown may have too much competition.
