Even before camp began, the Buffalo Bills were the center of attention with the previous situation surrounding Stefon Diggs.
The offseason was a whirlwind of emotions, from what transpired during the Bengals playoff game, to cryptic messages, to Sean McDermott saying he was "very concerned" and then Stefon Diggs opening up and shutting down any notion that he was unhappy or wanting to leave.
Now, Diggs is back in the national spotlight, this time for what he's been able to do on the football field.
At training camp, Buffalo had a special guest, Kay Adams of Up & Adams, come by to talk all things Bills with team legend (and should be Hall of Famer), Steve Tasker.
On Diggs and his superstar abilities, Kay was direct.
"And then there's what he does on the field. I don't know how he (Diggs) sort of gets swept out of that conversation of number 1 wide receivers. Of course what he did with Kirk Cousins in Minnesota, but as you pulled up the numbers here, he put up 100 catches in every single one of his seasons as a Bill. No one caught more balls than him over that span. He's ranked top-five in yards and touchdowns during that time as well. He's been a truly brilliant player, consistent player."
Kay continued, gushing over the current state of the Bills' offense with deep-threat players like Gabe Davis, newly-acquired Dalton Kincaid, and the rest of the offense. Steve Tasker, a man who should be in the Hall of Fame, was quick to call back to Diggs and his elite abilities on the football field.
"Still the centerpiece is Stef. He's a dude. He can go. They can try and take him away but Josh will find a way to get him open, get him the right matchup. The offense seems to be extremely versatile."
After discussing what the offense can do with weapons like James Cook and the 12 personnel opportunities they will be exploring this season, the conversation circled back to Stefon Diggs.
Adams, almost interjecting, "They gotta keep Stef happy."
Tasker had an enlightening response on Diggs and the state of the team.
"Stef is going to be happy… They're going to be really hard to beat again this year. When you're team is winning whether you're catching one ball or no balls or 20 balls you're really happy. These guys invest a lot into it. It's about us, not me, and Stef is one of those guys as well. He's a we guy, not a me guy. "
Tasker, continuing on, provided an inside look at where the turmoil may be coming from with his perceived antics, and didn't hold back.
"That's where the rhetoric has comes from… He gets a bad rap sometimes because does stand up and say what about it. But man, I think that team loves that about him."
Kay, with an important additional perspective on where the team stands based on what has happened so far this offseason. Adams mentioned the team not bringing in DeAndre Hopkins and how that bodes well for how the team thinks about Diggs within the organization.
"Well, they love it also by not really going for any of these wide receivers that were up. That's how the team shows that Stef is that guy. DeAndre Hopkins was available, some people out there do think it was a miss that this team didn't go and secure that elite wide receiver into this offense… Stef is their guy. If he's happy, he's heard it sounds like, and healthy, they can go all the way."
Diggs will let his play do the talking, and that's exactly what has transpired thus far in camp. From all reports, Diggs is balling out and is virtually unguardable. The superstar wide receiver is ready to take the league by storm and, once again, show why he is one of the best receivers in all of football.
I mean, come on, just look at this.
We can't wait to see what he and Josh Allen are able to accomplish this year.
