The New Orleans Saints have been dealing with some high temperatures during their training camp practices in Metairie, Louisiana.

Extreme heat warnings have been issued throughout the weekend as the Saints hold their second week of training camp. As a result, the Saints have made some changes to their open practices.

The outdoor portion will take place at 10 am for team drills with the gates opening at 9:15 am. However, the players will only be on the field for an hour. The early portion of practice that involves stretching and certain drills will take place in the indoor facility at regularly scheduled times and will be open for media access.

New Orleans was set to hold a private Club and Suite holder practice on Wednesday. Due to the weather, it's been rescheduled to next Wednesday, August 9.

"The safety of our fans, team, staff and all those who work to make open practices possible are our first priority," said Team President Dennis Lauscha, via the team's website. "Based on the Heat Warnings facing our community we have altered the practice schedule to allow our fans to show their support for the team while also reducing their exposure to the significant heat being forecasted over the coming days. Their attendance is a big boost for our players and coaches working hard on the field and we encourage all fans whose health will allow and have a ticket to attend."

The Saints had an issue with a few players last week because of the heat before these changes.

Wide receivers Keith Kirkwood and Shaq Davis left practice due to heat-related issues thanks to a temperature of 96 degrees with a real feel of 111 degrees. Saints head coach Dennis Allen spoke of the matter.

"We’re paying attention to it,” Allen said. “It’s not a joke. It’s a serious deal. We’ll monitor that throughout the training camp, and there will be some times that we’ll have to get them in here out of the heat a little bit. For the first couple of days, I didn’t think that was appropriate, so we’ll monitor that and adjust as we go.”

This is certainly the way to go for the Saints at this time.
