Injuries are unfortunately an unavoidable part of football. It's incredibly disappointing to see injuries before the season even begins.
The Minnesota Vikings received a few injury scares on Tuesday, and it looks like one of these could be serious.
The mood at camp on Tuesday was described as "somber" following the injuries.
Wide receiver Trishton Jackson had to be carted off after suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
The receiver went for a catch on the sideline and immediately went down in pain. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell both came over to support Jackson as he was carted off.
"It's definitely tough to see him go down like that," said star receiver Justin Jefferson. "Just the amount of work he has been doing getting to this point, he's a key part of our offense. I'll be praying for him and going to be right there with him. Hopefully it's not that bad."
Jackson was hoping to earn a roster spot after being a valuable practice squad member for the past two seasons. The final receiver spot was likely set to be a battle between Jackson, Brandon Powell, and Jalen Reagor.
The injury news didn't stop there. Second-year corner Andrew Booth Jr. walked off the field with medical staff early in the day and did not return. This is an unfortunate development for the corner, who only played in six games as a rookie due to injury.
Finally, starting RB Alexander Mattison came out of a team drill limping towards the end of practice. Mattison said he "should be OK," before heading for medical testing.
Mattison and Booth's injuries don't appear to be as serious as Jackson's. Be sure to stay tuned for updates as we learn more about these injuries.
