Steelers' former safety Jordan Dangerfield officially retires from NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a prideful organization that often does right by their players, no matter how high or low they are on the depth chart.

Realizing that football is a people's business, they won't make exceptions if it means harming the roster, but they practice the loyalty they preach.

And following the latest former Steeler to retire, that is evidenced once again:

Jordan Dangerfield Retires from NFL

Dangerfield was an undrafted free agent out of Towson before signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2013. Following a training camp stint with the franchise, he would then sign with Pittsburgh in 2014, spending seven of his eight years with the Steelers, including a 2020 season that earned him team captain honors.

“I lived out my dream for 8 years & now it’s time to enjoy my family, chase new dreams and future endeavors,” Dangerfield said in the post. “I want to thank the game of Football & the blessings it has brought my family and most of all I’m healthy. God is Good‼️ Football, Thank you for the last 25 years. Thanks for the opportunities, the friendships that turned into family. Football has brought me places I could never imagine. Thanks to all my coaches for giving me the opportunity to play. Thanks to all my teammates for pushing me to be the best every day. Too many thanks to give out but you know who you are, THANK YOU!!!”

Dangerfield played in 61 NFL games, recording 46 tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

A native of South Florida, Dangefield graduated from Royal Palm Beach High School and returned to the area last year, coaching defensive backs at American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, Florida. He will now put his full focus into coaching and being an excellent role model for his players.

So here's to Dangerfield. He was a core special teamer that all teams wish they could have, and the kind of player that embodies the Pittsburgh culture both on and off the field.

Best of luck to him and his future.
