The Detroit Lions made some roster moves on Monday morning. A couple of them were pretty surprising. The Lions have released Pro Bowl long snapper Jake McQuaide and waived fan favorite receiver Tom Kennedy with an injury settlement.
The Lions have signed offensive lineman Bobby Hart. The former seventh round pick has been in the NFL since 2015 and has bounced around for a bit. He's spent time with the Giants, Bengals, Bills, Dolphins and Titans.
Hart spent 2022 in Buffalo playing right tackle for the Bills as a depth guy. His real work of note was being a starting right tackle for the Bengals for three seasons. Hart has 67 career starts under his belt.
Hart could make a real challenge to be a part of the roster. He could very well give Matt Nelson a run for his money with all the experience he has. This move could also spell trouble for Germain Ifedi.
As for McQuaide, Scott Daly has impressed enough at camp that the Lions decided to they would stick with their incumbent long snapper. That's a bit surprising since McQuaide has had a lot of success at the position.
The fan favorite Tom Kennedy hurt his arm a while back and the Lions waived him. After he cleared waivers and reverted back to the Lions, the Lions made sure he got paid with an injury settlement before waiving him again.
