Bryce Young has heard it all.

In the pre-draft process, everyone made news of Young's size, with many scouts proclaiming that when it comes to playing in the NFL, he won't hold up. But Young isn't worried about his size when it comes to playing well at the pro level. In fact, it is something he has seen before.

"Everyone is taller than me, but it's been like that," he said to NBC Sports' Peter King. "Height-wise, I haven't seen anything [different]."

Though Young may feel like nothing is different at the NFL level, history shows that smaller quarterbacks typically don't fare well.

For context, Pete Thamel recently noted Kyler Murray and Johnny Manziel had been the only other QBs under six feet who were first-round selections in the common draft era.

Those are two names that other NFL quarterbacks wouldn't want to be compared to.

"If you pick him, you are saying that he's the outlier in the history of the league," one NFL executive said to Thamel. "Kyler Murray was that size, but a little sturdier built and ran low 4.4s. [Young is] an awesome player and awesome kid, but you are saying that the guy is the one outlier in the history of the league."

Young had his first rough practices recently. He struggled to get a play off in the two-minute drill, and the rookie quarterback had an adverse reaction to the struggles.

But Young isn't letting the difficulty of hard practices get to him. Instead, he is looking at them as circumstances conducive to learning.

"There are only two options at a certain point,'' Young said. "Are you going to let it dwell? Or are you going to let it affect you the next play? Or are you going to move on and get better? And the only thing you can do is focus on the next rep.

"So you're constantly turning the page.''

Moments like that could provide insight into the struggles Young may face at the NFL level being a smaller quarterback.

The Panthers will get an opportunity to see it in-game soon enough, Young is expected to play against the New York Jets in the team's first preseason game on Saturday.
