The Las Vegas Raiders released their first unofficial depth chart just ahead of Preseason Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. On that depth chart is something we didn't really expect based on the things we are hearing from training camp.

The Raiders have every position group filled out about how we expected it to be. The receiver groups have the guys we thought they would have. The quarterback room looks how we thought, and so on.

However, the kick and punt return doesn't look exactly like we thought. Sure, there are some similarities, but overall, there is just something missing.

Raiders' rookie receiver left off kick and punt return

When the Raiders drafted Tre Tucker, the receiver out of Cincinnati, it was said that they appreciated his speed, something they needed, and his ability to be a returner, something else they needed. In the last few years, Hunter Renfrow has done the majority of the return work. They would like him to be able to focus more on being a receiver.

That's where Tre Turner came in, so we thought. The way the Raiders' current unofficial depth chart looks, Deandre Carter is the main returner for both punts and kicks. That's about what we expected, considering his history doing in with the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, Tucker isn't listed as a backup at all, on either return unit. He isn't the backup or the third string. His name isn't on the depth chart other than as a receiver. From the media that has been at camp, we have heard that Tucker has been a guy that has taken a ton of snaps at those positions.

Maybe this means they didn't like what they saw, or maybe he just isn't ready yet and has to work more to get to that level. Either way, this is an unofficial depth chart, one that the Raiders PR staff put together, not the coaching staff. So, it's probably best to take this with a grain of salt, and the unofficial will update weekly.
