Several weeks still means several weeks when it comes to how quickly Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will return to the field.

When asked about his QB recovery, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters prior to a joint practice against the Green Bay Packers that Burrow is still expected to be out for the same amount of time as he stated nearly two weeks ago.

“The timeline is several weeks from when I said several weeks,” Taylor said

Updates on Burrow's strained calf have been far and few between, but local reporters have noted the 26-year old passer has been walking around the locker room over the past week with no noticeable limp, and is still wearing a sleeve over the calf in question.

Just because he appears fine, does not mean his calf is all the way healed. This specific injury is tricky since it can feel much better than it actually is. Recurrences are common due to players returning too quickly.

This is precisely what the Bengals are trying to avoid with Burrow. They still have a full month between now and the start of the season, so they can hold him off from practice all the way up until the season-opener.

Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has been adamant about Burrow not returning until he's 100% healthy.

"I want him to be 100% healthy to play," Chase said to reporters after Sunday's practice. "I want him rushing nothing. I don't want people in his ear telling him to play at a certain time. I just want him to be healthy. And that's not me telling him to play this certain game. That's me saying be healthy when you're back, 100% healthy."

Cincinnati's first regular season game against the Cleveland Browns is 32 days away.
