Will the Seahawks play the starters?
For the most part, it appears unlikely. The Seahawks have already dealt with several, albeit relatively minor, injuries in training camp and won't want to unnecessarily risk more.
Seattle might want to get a look at rookies Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Zach Charbonnet in a live game situation, but given their importance to the offseason it would be no surprise if they are also rested.
Who takes center stage?
The position where the identity of the starter is still up in the air is center. Journeyman veteran Evan Brown was said by Pete Carroll to be the leader ahead of rookie Olu Oluwatimi. If Brown is first on the field with those who do play, it will illustrate that status. However, if he is among those rested, it could indicate the job is already his.
3 Players to Watch
- WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba: Seahawks fans will be desperate for even a brief glimpse of what Smith-Njigba can do. The reports from training camp have been overwhelmingly positive about the first-round pick, and the hype will only grow with a strong preseason showing.
- DE Boye Mafe: With Darrell Taylor struggling with a shoulder injury, the Seahawks need to have faith in their edge rush depth if that lingers into the regular season. It's time for 2022 second-round pick Mafe to inspire confidence he can take a step forward after 3.5 sacks in his rookie year.
- CB Tre Brown: One area where the Seahawks have plenty of depth is in the secondary, though that has been hit somewhat by Devon Witherspoon's hamstring injury. Likely to be a backup at outside corner, Brown has impressed in camp and will look to stake a claim for consistent regular-season snaps by carrying that into preseason.
