General manager Ryan Poles and staff are continuing to add to the defense.
It's clear that rebuilding the defense was a priority after the unit allowed an average of 375.9 yards per game. Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards were brought in to strengthen the heart of the unit, while Andrew Billings and DeMarcus Walker provide depth on the line.
On Thursday, the team made another defensive signing that will improve the depth.
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears have signed linebacker Dylan Cole to a deal.
The team hosted Cole for a visit on Wednesday.
Cole spent the previous two seasons in Tennessee as a depth linebacker. Originally signed as a special teams guy, Cole was forced into a larger role with the Titans in 2022 after a rash of defensive injuries.
Cole got eight starts in 2022 and translated that into a career-high 64 tackles and four tackles for loss.
Cole figures to slot in behind fellow new addition Tremaine Edmunds. Other backup linebackers currently include Sterling Weatherford, Kuony Deng, and DeMarquis Gates.
The Cole signing probably won't be too exciting, but he is a solid veteran player who is capable of performing if called upon. Since going undrafted out of Missouri State, Cole has played with an edge.
