The Tennessee Vols hit the field this week for spring practice as the program begins its preparations for the 2023 season.

Tennessee will be looking to prove in 2023 that their 11-2 record last season wasn't a fluke.

If spring practice is priority 1A at the moment, then recruiting is priority 1B.

A high-profile five-star recruit is reportedly set to visit Tennessee in early April.

On3 reported on Friday that 2024 five-star linebacker Sammy Brown will visit UT on April 8. He will also visit Oklahoma next month.

“Tennessee has done a great job turning that program around over the past couple of years and I think it’ll just continue to come up,” said Brown to On3. “I think those coaches are doing the right thing and they’re doing them for the right reasons.”

Brown, 6-foot-2/225 lbs from Jefferson, GA, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 linebacker in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia.

Landing Brown, who plans to commit sometime in July, won't be easy for the Vols. In fact, it would be a big recruiting upset if they did. Pulling one of the top defensive players out of the state of Georgia would send a message that Tennessee is here to stay. But the Vols have a lot of work to do if they're going to lure Brown to Rocky Top. Clemson and Georgia are both strongly in the mix.

Tennessee currently has five players committed to its 2024 recruiting class which is ranked No. 9 in the nation.
