PFF doesn't expect Dalton Risner to return to the Broncos
One national media site thinks the Denver Broncos will lose one of their four-year starters in the 2023 free agency
The Denver Broncos are in a crucial offseason where they have to get things right. If they don't, it will almost be like everything they did last offseason was a waste. They have moves to make all over the roster and not a whole lot of money to do it as it currently stands.
Per spotrac.com, the Broncos currently have $12 million in cap space. It's safe to say that they may have to cut some players, restructure some contracts, or even let some free agents walk. One of the guys that they should let walk is Dalton Risner.
Pro Football Focus thinks they will let him walk and he will sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles could potentially lose Seumalo on the open market, and they would be wise to replace him with Risner, who will cost much less. Risner has been a consistently above-average blocker who excels in pass blocking, posting four straight years with a 69.5-plus pass-blocking grade. The Eagles' run scheme is also diverse, as they mix and match zone and gap runs well. The Broncos employed a similar run scheme under previous head coach Nathaniel Hackett, and Risner should be able to thrive at whatever guard position the Eagles need him to play.
It's no secret that the Broncos need help on the offensive line after allowing Russell Wilson to be sacked 55 times last season, the most in the league. So, why would they let Risner walk?
Risner has a projected market value of $9.5 million annually, and honestly, they may be able to go get someone with better production in the draft, for a cheaper price.
It will be interesting what a team like the Philadelphia Eagles, who is predicted to land him by PFF, offers him during free agency as they could lose a large chunk of their offensive line due to money issues.
