Throughout the early part of the NFL’s offseason fans will often associate every big-name free agent as a potential target for their favorite team. Most of it is wishful thinking, but one high profile player just gave Dolphins fans a reason for optimism.

Jordan Poyer, 33, has starred at strong safety for the Buffalo Bills over the last six seasons. Now a free agent, Poyer’s recent comments made on his podcast could point towards landing in Miami.

“A lot of people ask me, ‘Oh, if it wasn’t Buffalo, where would you go?’ I kind of ponder the question every once in a while. . . . I would love to go to a state that doesn’t take half my money. It’s crazy to me how taxes work. Some people will say, ‘You’re already making X amount of money.’ Taxes play a big part in all of our lives. . . . If it wasn’t Buffalo, it’d be nice to be warm. It would be nice to see the sun, maybe, every week or so, every other week at least.”

Miami checks both of the boxes that Poyer wants in a new suitor. And the Dolphins could be in the market for a strong safety with Eric Rowe set to his free agency.

It should be noted that Poyer spends his offseasons working out in Miami. He has also developed a friendly relationship with Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa as the pair enjoys golfing with one another.

Poyer was the glue that held the Bills’ defense together since arriving in 2017. He has one All-Pro season to go along with his Pro Bowl nod in 2022.

Not only would adding Poyer improve the back end of the Dolphins’ defense, but it would significantly disrupt the chemistry in Buffalo.
