The Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown has never gotten the credit he deserves. This is a guy whose first two seasons had over 1,000 yards receiving. He almost had it last season too even while he missed four games, and then had 1,400 receiving yards this year.
Yet, he never gets recognized as a top-five receiver, until this year.
Brown was the focal point of the Eagles' passing game and a huge reason their offense was number two in the league. You could also make the argument he was a huge reason Jalen Hurts had the jump he did.
He was so valuable this season, that he finally was recognized the way he should be. Pro Football Focus has him as the fourth receiver on their top 101 players list for the 2022 season. Here is what Sam Monson, the author of the list, had to say about Brown's season:
"Brown’s presence in Philadelphia's offense was transformative. He was the catalyst for improvements across the board, changing how aggressive Jalen Hurts is with downfield passing while opening space up for DeVonta Smith and others. Brown averaged 3.4 yards per route run against man coverage, the fourth-most in the league."
On the list, Brown was behind just Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, and Tyreek Hill. All of those guys probably deserve to be ahead of Brown, too, if we are just going off of this last year.
Brown is ahead of notable names like Stefon Diggs and Ja'Marr Chase, as he should be. It's about time Brown gets the credit he deserves. He is a top-five receiver in this league!
