NFL analyst has Pro Bowl LB Lavonte David signing with Raiders
The Raiders can make a splash in free agency by signing the former Buccaneer
The Las Vegas Raiders didn’t have a season they would like to remember in 2022, even if the off-season before was one we will never forget. They somehow landed Davante Adams and Chandler Jones.
But, like we said, it didn’t really work how we thought it would. Now they are trying to build off of last season and see if they can do what the original plan was, to make the playoffs.
It won’t be any easier though, as one of their division rivals in the Kansas City Chiefs just won the Super Bowl. However, one potential move in free agency could make it a bit easier than it would have been last season, and Adam Rank, an NFL analyst is predicting it to happen.
"It's time for you to go out to Las Vegas, congratulations on your Super Bowl title," Rank said on NFL Total Access. "But that window has closed in Tampa Bay. It is time to start a new chapter in Las Vegas. And listen, Raiders. I don't completely know what you're doing. You don't have a quarterback, you have a lot of problems on defense, though. You have not stopped anybody. Well, except for that one play against the Patriots. I'll get to that in a moment. But David, as the guy to control the middle for the team in Las Vegas makes way too much sense."
Lavonte David is getting up there in age, as he is currently 33-years-old. However, he is still one of the best three coverage linebackers in the league.
David is entering his 11th season so a long term deal wouldn’t be a great idea for the Raiders because he could easily decline by age 36 or 37. But? A short term deal worth a lot of money would be nice.
If it were up to me, which it isn’t for obvious reasons, I’d give David a two year deal worth $23 million, which isn’t bad considering his previous deal was two years for $25 million, per Spotrac.com.
David will bring an immediate impact to the defense, a unit that needs a ton of help, and will also bring that veteran leadership paired with a championship mentality. If he shows mutual interest, I say the Raiders should pull the trigger.
