The Nashville Predators have traded yet another veteran, sending Mikael Granlund to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The return is a 2nd round pick in the 2023, which gives Nashville their 13th pick in the upcoming draft (which will be hosted in Nashville).

The added draft pick is huge, and will help kick start their rebuild, but perhaps the biggest gain for the Preds is freeing up Granlund's contract.

Granlund was owed $5 million per year over the next two seasons. Given his production this year, only 36 points in 58 games, it would be tough going into next year knowing his $5 million is still on the books.

By shedding that money, Nashville know has a lot more flexibility to rebuild their franchise.

Granlund joins Tanner Jeannot, Mattias Ekholm, and Nino Niederreiter among Predators players traded away at this year's deadline.

This is an unprecedented moment in Nashville Predators history. Never before have they sold this much, never before have they acquired this much draft capital.

What a difference a week makes.
