The Tennessee Vols are coming off an 11-2 season in 2022.

Many analysts, however, feel like Tennessee will take a slight step back in 2023.

And that's not because Josh Heupel is going to suddenly regress as a head coach. Instead, it's because the Vols are losing players like Hendon Hooker, Jalin Hyatt, Darnell Wright, Cedric Tillman, Byron Young, Jeremy Banks, etc.

The over/under win total for the Vols in 2023 from FanDuel seemingly agrees with the analysts who believe that Tennessee will take a step back this season.

FanDuel (via On3) has the Vols' over/under win total set at 8.5 in 2023.

I'd take the over on that all day. I can understand the concern about replacing Hooker and the other guys the Vols are losing. Those are special players and while Tennessee feels good about the guys they have to replace them, they still have to prove it.

But I still think the floor for the Vols in 2023 is nine wins. And I really feel like they'll win 10 games. 11 wins are possible, but they can't afford a slip-up against South Carolina (or any other game where UT is favored) like they had last season.

Of course, we learned last season to not doubt Tennessee. That 8.5 over/under might look really silly by mid-November.
