Steelers sign free agent guard Isaac Seumalo to three-year deal
Pittsburgh makes a smart investment for their offense.
The Pittsburgh Steelers boosted their offense late Saturday night by agreeing to terms with free agent guard Isaac Seumalo.
Per The Score's Jordan Schultz, Seumalo is signing a three-year deal with Pittsburgh.
Seumalo, an eigth-year player in 2023, was originally a third-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft. He has a combined 66 regular season and postseason starts in his career thus far.
There isn't a position Seumalo hadn't played on the Eagles' offensive line. He was a backup swing guard during his first two years in Philly before emerging as the starting left guard in the middle of 2018. He started every game in 2019 at the position as well.
Injuries derailed the following two years for the former Oregon State Beaver. He missed seven games in 2020 with a knee injury, and 15 games in 2021 with a Lisfranc injury.
Seumalo got back on track in 2022, recording a career-high 1,350 snaps at right guard during the Eagles' run to the Super Bowl.
If the Steelers want to keep Seumalo in the interior, left guard is the most likely spot for the 29-year old veteran. He'd replace 2020 fourth-round pick Kevin Dotson while 2022 free agent acquisition James Daniels continues to hold down the fort at right guard.
Whatever position he ends up playing, Seumalo will make Kenny Pickett and Najee Harris' lives a lot easier.
