The Houston Texans just made one of the biggest moves they will make all offseason. Brandin Cooks has been wanting out of the team for a long time and now he'll get his wishes as the team is trading him in-state.

Per Aaron Wilson, the Texans are trading Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for late-round draft picks. Here are the terms of the trade:

  1. Texans receive fifth-round and sixth-round draft picks.
  2. Cowboys receive WR Brandin Cooks.
  3. The Texans will pay $6M of Cooks' $18M guaranteed salary.

With the move, the Texans keep trending toward a completely fresh start.

Losing Cooks hurts but it fits what the team is trying to do. The veteran had been very vocal about being unhappy with his place on the team even though he signed a contract extension last year.

The Texans have been preparing to lose him as they've rebuilt their wide receiver room. As of right now, the position group includes Robert Woods, Nico Collins, and Noah Brown.

More important than that might be who is throwing them the football when the season starts. With the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans will likely make it a rookie.
