The Texans made a notable trade on Sunday morning.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that the Texans traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys. The Texans are reportedly receiving a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick in return.

With the trade, Cooks has now been traded four times in his NFL career.

NFL trades are not as common as NBA or MLB trades, so Cooks is now in rare company.

According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Cooks is now tied with Eric Dickerson for the most times traded, with four.

Cooks was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The speedy receiver was an immediate weapon in the NFL, as he finished with over 1,100 receiving yards in 2015 and 2016.

Before the 2017 NFL Draft, Cooks was traded to the New England Patriots along with a 2017 fourth-round pick, for a 2017 first-rounder and a 2017 third-rounder.

However, Cooks wouldn't last long in New England, either.

After just one season, in which Cooks again eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards, the Patriots flipped Cooks and a 2018 fourth-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams for a 2018 first-round pick and a 2018 sixth-round pick.

After arriving in Los Angeles, Cooks signed a five year, $80 million contract extension with the Rams.

Cooks' first season in Los Angeles, 2018, was his best season as a pro. The veteran finished with 80 catches for 1,204 yards and five TDs.

Cooks' second season in Los Angeles was not as productive. The receiver missed time after suffering a concussion, and had his worst season since his rookie year.

Once again, after this season, Cooks was traded alongside a fourth-round pick to the Houston Texans for a 2020 second-rounder.

Cooks returned to putting up big numbers upon joining the Texans, finishing with +1,000 yards in 2020 and 2021. This production led to Cooks receiving a two year, $39 million contract extension with Houston before the 2022 season.

However, shortly thereafter is where the problems arise. With the Deshaun Watson saga, and the Texans clearly entering a rebuild, Cooks voiced his displeasure.

The veteran receiver was embroiled in trade rumors leading up to the 2022 NFL trade deadline, but was ultimately not dealt. Cooks made it known he was not happy that he wasn't traded, and has reiterated that he does not want to be a part of a rebuild.

Finally, Cooks has gotten his wish. The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of a playoff season and are widely expected to contend again in 2023.
