The Texans continue to make moves to reshape one of the least talented rosters in the league.

On Sunday, the team made a move to get rid of a disgruntled veteran.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that the Texans are trading WR Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Later on Sunday, NFL insider Adam Schefter shared the financial details of the trade.

Cooks recently restructered his contract so that Houston will pay the veteran receiver $6M in 2023 and the Cowboys will pay the additional $12M for the season.

So the Texans are receiving two late-round picks and some cap relief in exchange for the embattled veteran.

Additionally, the trade allows Houston to remove an unhappy player from the locker room and opens up a role for younger players like John Metchie III and recent free agent signing Noah Brown.

That's not to say Cooks isn't still a useful player, because he is. With Davis Mills at QB in 2021 and 2022, Cooks still put up solid numbers.

In 2021, Cooks finished with 90 catches for 1,037 yards and 6 TDs. In 2022, the veteran had 57 catches for 699 yards and 3 TDs in 13 games.

Dallas could be the perfect landing spot for Cooks. The Cowboys are a contending team, and Cooks will be surrounded by talent. Cooks will join CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup in a talented Dallas receiver room.
